Fayetteville Eye Doctor To Provide Free Consultations on Non-Surgical Vision Correction

FDA Approved for Ages 7 and Up
Dr. James Singletary is the only Optometrist in the Area Certified in Ortho-K

Fayetteville, NC – February 2, 2011 Recent news about the complications facing many
Lasik surgery patients, has led to the resurgence in non-surgical vision correction
or “Ortho-K” (OrthoKeratology) which has been recently featured on ABC’s “The View”,
Fox News and other news media outlets.

Dr. James Singletary, a Fayetteville native, is the only Optometrist in eastern North
Carolina that is Board Certified by the OrthoKeratology Academy of America and
starting this month, is offering free consultations to those wishing to learn more
about “Ortho-K”, which is clinically proven to slow the progression of nearsightedness
(myopia) in children.

“Ortho-K” (also called “K-Vision” as referred to by Dr. Singletary), is the only vision
correction procedure FDA approved for Children above the age of 7. The process
involves the reshaping of the cornea by utilizing custom-fitted contact lenses. The
lenses, which are worn overnight, allow patients to virtually correct their vision while
they sleep. After application, patients can sometimes go up to 3 days without having to
wear any type of vision correction apparatus such as glasses or day-time wear contact
lenses. The procedure is even beneficial for people who previously had Lasik or PRK.

“Many people do not know the risks involved with Lasik, and some people are just
concerned about any type of surgery. If you are considering a vision correction, these
consultations will give you all the facts you need to make the most informed decision”,
says Dr. Singletary

“K-Vision” costs close to 50% less than other vision correction procedures and is 100% reversible, but not all are candidates for the procedure”, adds Dr. Singletary.

“We just want to get the word out about non-surgical alternatives, and these consultations will do just that.”

The clinics will be held the last Wednesday of every month beginning February 23rd, 2011 and are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please call 910.426.3937.
